According to ex-Busted boy and Son Of Dork frontman James Bourne former bandmate Matt Jay’s upcoming solo record sounds like a rockier Robbie Williams.

“It’s better than Robbie's recent stuff,” said James when he spoke exclusively to cduk.com.

“If you like Robbie Williams earlier stuff, picture that, but rocked up."

Chris Leonard from Son Of Dork concurred: "It’s more like ‘Let Me Entertain You’.

“He’s been working with A (the band) as well. It’s a big sound.”

When asked why James didn’t continue working with Matt when Charlie Simpson quit Busted he confessed: “I was the person, saying ‘Oh Matt, come and do the band.’

“After Charlie left I thought that it would be a given that we would stay together.

Matt said, ‘I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to keep doing it because we’re 2/3 of the biggest pop band for the last two years and it wouldn’t be a new band, it would just be Busted without Charlie.'

James then admitted that he was swayed by Matt's point of view.

He added: “There are so many pop bands who continue once members have left and it’s just not the same.

"Also we’re capable of doing our own thing. He’s going solo, he is backed by a band and he’s mixing the album now.”

It will certainly be interesting to see where the final piece of the Busted puzzle goes.
